Supernatural horror prequel centred on a haunted doll. After the death of their young daughter, doll maker Samuel Mullins (Anthony LaPaglia) and his wife Esther (Miranda Otto) invite a group of orphans and nun Sister Charlotte (Stephanie Sigman) to stay in their farmhouse after their own orphanage closes down. However, it soon transpires that the couple have welcomed the young girls to atone for inadvertently inviting a demon into their home, after mistaking it for the spirit of their daughter Annabelle. Now occupying one of Samuel's dolls the spirit proceeds to terrorise the girls as it tries to claim their souls.
