Schattenkind: - Dirk Maassen [CD]

Dirk Maassen's first film music album is the soundtrack to the documentary 'Schattenkind', which was awarded Best Documentary at the Hof International Film Festival. Maassen took part in the filming process and accompanied the director Jo Müller and the film crew for over two years, transforming the scenic impressions into an emotional musical picture. 'Schattenkind' follows the exceptional photographer Andreas Reiner's work and shows his modest life on a dilapidated farm. Reiner looks where others look away and creates provocative photographic experiences. For Dirk Maassen, the production of the film was a special experience, as he was able to immerse himself in the world of Reiner not only as a composer but as an actor in the key scenes. He was particularly inspired by the stories of the people he met during the production which changed his view of life. Director Jo Müller didn't give Dirk Maassen any guidelines for the composition of his film music. This allowed him to express himself freely and develop his own musical approach to film. Sometimes the music also set the framework for some of the scenes in the movie.
